Nikos Nanopoulos

Nikos Nanopoulos is the Chair of Diorama Investment Sicar SA, registered in Luxembourg, and Chair of its Investment Committee. He is also Chair of EFG Investment & Wealth Solutions Holding AG, registered in Zurich.

He is a Board Member at Aegean Airlines and Altius Insurance, registered in Cyprus, and also serves as member of the Altius Investment Committee. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) and the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation. Lastly, he serves as a member on various Boards, such as the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation Association and the CEO Organisation.

He has been active in the financing and banking services sector for more than 35 years. He embarked on his career at the World Bank in 1982, where he became Senior Manager in the Financial Management Department. He then worked as Managing Director in a brokerage firm in New York, a subsidiary of the HSBC Group.

In 1990 he returned to Greece and was one of the founding members of the Euromerchant Bank of the Latsis Group, which was later renamed Eurobank.

From 1996 to 2013 he served as Eurobank CEO. Under his leadership, Eurobank evolved into one of the 4 major Greek banks, active in a wide range of financial products and services. Since its establishment, Eurobank has grown at a rapid pace, both within the organisation and through mergers and acquisitions (Cretabank, Bank of Athens, Ergasias Bank, etc.). This way it solidified its presence in 10 countries overall, while the number of employees reached 20,000.

For about 10 years, he served as Vice Chair of the Hellenic Bank Association, while he has sat on many other Boards (in sectors such as manufacturing, insurance, mutual funds, personal loans, etc.).

He studied Engineering (BSc, MSc, MIT), Economics (MSc, LSE) and Business Administration (MBA, INSEAD), and holds a PhD in Economic Sciences from the University of Reading in England.
