Athanasios Kefalas

Athanasios Kefalas is the President of IMERYS Greece SA and IMERYS Bauxites Greece SA. He has been President of the Greek Mining Enterprises Association since June of 2015 and President of the European Bentonite Association (EUBA) since 2019.

He is a member of the General Council of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), a board member of the SEV Council for Sustainable Development and a board member of the Association of Industries of Central Greece (SVSE). He has also been a member of the Centre of Volunteer Managers of Greece (KEMEL) since 2019.

He embarked on his career in production and exploitation positions and gradually moved to more strategic positions with extensive international exposure. He now has 40 years of experience in the mining industry, mineral processing, business development and corporate governance.

Athanasios is a graduate of the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering, NTUA, and has completed the Executive MBA programme at INSEAD.
