ARTES aims to develop and successfully implement a highly-specialized, science-based service for the accurate description and authentication of art. ARTES will offer a globally accessible service of art characterization that investigates and documents materiality, artistic techniques, and preservation conditions of art and heritage assets. Building on rigorous interdisciplinary research, and integrating cross-disciplinary expertise, non-invasive on-site chemical-physical analyses, and advanced 2D and 3D imaging, and fully digitalized processes, ARTES will deliver innovative and robust solutions to major needs in the culture and heritage industry. Leveraging the state-of-the-art of computational science, our digital platform will enable a global network of expert collaborators and affiliated labs to build a shared base of knowledge, gathering and integrating collective intelligence needed for artistic asset characterization.
