PCN Materials
Sustainable DevelopmentOur company was established in October 2019, as a result of decade-long efforts devoted by the research team of the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser, Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH) in Crete. The business initiative is based on patented rights obtained by FORTH. The respective patents were passed on to the company upon its establishment.
Our aim is to produce innovative photocatalytic materials in powder or solution form which will deconstruct air pollutants and unpleasant odours, but also disinfect mostly internal spaces, destroying harmful pathogens and micro-organisms, such as bacteria and viruses. Both the proposed technology and the produced materials aim to deal with the global air pollution issue, contributing to the improvement of life quality in internal spaces, where the average citizen spends over 90% of their time every day.
Specifically, photocatalytic products contribute to effectively tackling the issue of hospital infections, destroying resistant bacteria (Gram+, Gram-), such as E.coli, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), but also resistant viruses, such as MS2 and Lentivirus.
