Alex Vamvakas

Alex holds a Diploma from National Technical University of Athens and an MSc in Advanced Engineering from Imperial College London. He started his career as a researcher at CERN, where he understood the value of fundamental research. Initially he was involved in Future Collider projects and later he was exposed in projects tying science to real life problems, mostly in the medical domain, such as particle accelerators for cancer treatment.

His desire to be involved in impactful projects led him to a medical device startup, where he was fascinated by transferring research into a product. In 2021, he moved to Fairway Asset Management in Zurich, where he led the creation of a new Venture arm, investing directly into deep tech companies. As an active investor, he has been supporting his portfolio companies and sitting in their Board of Directors. He has recently relocated back to Greece and acts as advisor and angel investor in many startups across Greece, UK and Switzerland.
